VOLTCASE LILLY VANKATZ INTERVIEW:

Welcome to Voltcase, Lilly, how are things?

Great! Summer is coming. Winter is a pretty slow time for me.

So, how would you describe yourself to a stranger in three words?

Only three? I'd have to say... Sexy, fun, sincere. But there's so many more!

Your core modelling genre seems to be the retro 50's pin-up look - are you heavily influenced by the 50's glamour icons of old?

YES! I love the old "taboo" of 50's pin-up. Of course, Betty Page is a huge influence of mine, but I also adore Marilyn Monroe and Mamie Van Doren. The 50's were an awesome time for both cinema and fashion and I want to try and bring a little of that back. The magazine and glamour models of our time are beautiful, but none can hold a candle to the women of the 50's.

And what about modern stuff - are you interested in any of the rockabilly revival clothing and music that’s going on, or does it have to be original 50's and nothing else?

I think anything or anyone that’s trying to capture the magic of that era is great! I'm a big fan of new rockabilly and psychobilly music and the clothing. You can't catch me wearing anything else. My dream Is to one day have my own line of retro shoes and clothing.

Any personal guidelines on what you will / wont do regards to modelling? And any advice to anyone out there whose just starting out?

I’m pretty open to new ideas and I like to let the photographer have some fun too. The only thing I wont do is full nudes. It’s not what pin up is about. I think the female body is a beautiful thing to behold and there has to be something left for the imagination. If you're just starting out, be true to yourself. Don't let anyone tell you that you have to do something like nudes to make your career. You don’t want to regret it later. Only do the things you're comfortable with and you'll get better pictures.

So, you’re based in California (a place most of us here in the UK have only seen TV shows!), what’s it like at the moment? Plenty of opportunities around?

California seems to be the hub for retro-style modeling. There are so many new models and photographers coming out all the time. I think there's a new demand for the genre and more and more opportunities are going to be available because of it. L.A is the place to be as usual, but there are also great things happening in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Any rock-star style stories that you can tell us about? Ever thrown a TV out of a hotel window, for example?

Unfortunately, from the standpoint of good story telling, no. Don't get me wrong, I'm no stick in the mud. But, A lady would never do such a thing.

If you were interviewing yourself, what question would you ask yourself? And what would the answer be?

I'd ask something totally off subject, like "Do you have any pets?" Why yes, I do. I have 2 Doberman Pinschers, 5 cats and 2 birds. Yes, I love animals, alot

So, what have you got planned for the rest of the year?

I’m trying to finish college, which is almost over! Once that’s out of the way, look out! You’ll be seeing me everywhere! For now, to I’ve got a few new features in magazines and websites; Bachelor Pad Magazine, PurelyPinups. com, and of course I’m always looking for modeling opportunities. I’ll be updating my own website soon with more pictures. www. LillyVanKatz. com. Come on by.

And finally, the question that we ask everyone that appears in Voltcase - what does the word 'Voltcase' mean?

Voltcase: a mildly psychotic drop dead gorgeous woman with homicidal tendencies.
